The First Joyful Mystery: The Annunciation of Our Lord (Scripture: Luke 1:26-38)

The angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man namedJoseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel said to her: "Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you! Blessed are you among women!" She was deeply troubled at his words, and cast in her mind, what manner of greeting this could be. The angel said, "Do not be troubled, Mary, for you have found favour with God. You shall conceive and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and he will be called the Son of the Most High: and God his Father will give him the throne of his ancestor David, and he will be king over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom, there will be no end."

Mary said to the angel, "How can this be? For I have no relations with a man."

The angel said, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you, and it is for this reason that the Holy One to whom you will give birth is called the Son of God. And even as we speak, your cousin Elizabeth has also conceived a child in her old age, and she who was called barren is now in her sixth month, for nothing is impossible with God.

Mary replied, "Let it be done to me, according to your word."

Fruit of the Mystery: Humility

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. (1 time)

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen (10 times)

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. (1 time)

(optional) O My Jesus, forgive us our sins; save us from the fires of Hell. Lead all souls to Heaven, and help especially those in most need of Thy mercy. (1 time)
